Cookie policy

This policy explains the small amount of first-party browser storage used by Kinematic Trees and how to control optional journey measurement.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text values saved by your browser for a website. They can remember a choice or recognise the same browser on a later visit. First-party cookies are set for the site you are visiting; third-party cookies are set by another domain.

Our analytics approach

We use a self-hosted instance of Umami for aggregate website measurement. Umami does not set analytics cookies on this site. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising cookies, Facebook Pixel, social-media tracking pixels or browser fingerprinting.

Aggregate requests may still involve technical data such as IP address and browser information while the request is processed. See our privacy and UK GDPR notice for the lawful basis and your rights.

Cookies we use

NamePurposeCategoryDuration
kt_journey_consentRemembers whether this browser allowed or declined optional longitudinal journey tracking, so we can respect the choice.Strictly necessary preference180 days
kt_vidStores a random 32-character browser ID used by Umami Distinct IDs and, if a form is submitted, consented lead attribution. It contains no name or email address.Optional analytics180 days; deleted on withdrawal

Your choice

The optional kt_vid cookie is not set unless you select “Allow journey tracking”. Declining does not prevent you from reading the site, playing the film, viewing updates or submitting a form.

Selecting “Decline / withdraw” deletes kt_vid from this browser and stops future persistent recognition. The consent-preference cookie remains so we can remember and respect that decision.

Browser controls and limitations

You can also delete or block cookies using your browser settings. Deleting cookies removes the saved preference and visitor ID; the next visit will ask for a choice again. Private browsing, another device or another browser will usually appear as a separate browser. A shared browser may be used by more than one person.

We do not attempt to rebuild a deleted ID through fingerprinting or inspect cookies created for unrelated websites.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy if the website or its providers change. Material changes will be highlighted here. Questions can be sent to contact@kinematictrees.com.
